The Power of Fashion in the Roman Empire
One of Glyptoteket’s largest special exhibitions, exploring The Power of Fashion in the Roman Empire.
Taking its starting point in the fact that Roman sculptures were originally painted, the exhibition explores how colour was closely connected to power and status.
Four films accompany the exhibition, each revealing a different aspect of Roman life.
All from the making of the colour purpur and the complexity of women’s hairstyles, to how the sculptures would have actually looked in their original form.
